What You’ll Do

As a Principal Enterprise Architect, you’ll work to ensure architecture cohesiveness and drive alignment to both business and technology objectives for initiatives that span multiple product areas and/or LOBs. You will have a broad view of products, technologies, processes, and data and how they should work together to deliver business value.

The architect develops technology strategies and future state architectures that enable value streams and product teams to deliver industry differentiating solutions. We combine deep technical domain understanding with a broad view of organizational concerns including business acumen, security, compliance, and product delivery. Also, actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management. 


How You’ll Do It

  • Provides guidance to help define business and BT goals. Guides and approves designs that align to strategic business and technology roadmaps 
  • Leads multi-disciplinary architecture teams to support complex business areas 
  • Applies broad knowledge of technology and business goals to develop future state target architectures and roadmaps 
  • Guides engineering team’s designs and decisions to support strategic roadmap and meet tactical business goals 
  • Defines overarching enterprise architecture frameworks, guardrails and principles for Discover 
  • Design and architect enterprise-scale data center solutions, including compute, storage, networking and virtualization technologies
  • Lead the design and implementation of data center migrations, consolidations and upgrades
  • Designs with PCI / regulatory requirements within their technology and product space
  • Delivers architectures that balance risk, security and operational excellence.
  • Services as a thought leader within their domain or product.
  • Keeps abreast of industry changes across their product family. Assesses relative merits of technology maturity against Discovers needs
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of technical domain (e.g. compute, network cloud, API, frameworks, etc).
  • Creates big-picture design view of product portfolio.

Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics

  • Bachelors – Computer Science
  • 8+ Years – Software Development, Software Engineering, Technical or related  
  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus architecture scale

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Proven experience as a Data Center Enterprise Architect or similar role in a large-scale enterprise environment
  • In-depth knowledge of data center technologies, including server hardware, storage systems, networking protocols and virtualization platforms
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and architectures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management and orchestra tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet Terraform)

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $148,000.00 to $204,000.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
