Technical Architects at Discover develop technology strategies and future state architectures that enable value streams and product teams to deliver industry differentiating solutions. We combine deep technical domain understanding with a broad view of organizational concerns including business acumen, security, compliance, and product delivery. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.  

Responsibilities 

  • Develops technology strategies and future state architectures that enable value streams and product teams to deliver industry differentiating solutions. We combine deep technical domain understanding with a broad view of organizational concerns including business acumen, security, compliance, and product delivery.
  • Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
  • Serves as a technical thought leader across product area/family. Creates architectural artifacts that address a broad spectrum of concerns 
  • Deep understanding within a given technology area 
  • Leads technical strategy for the enterprise. Balance long term with short term architectural needs 
  • Has a longer-term view of where domain / product family is headed 
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of multiple technical areas 

Minimum Qualifications 

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you: 

  • Bachelors – Computer Science or related  
  • 10+ Years – Software Development, Software Engineering, Technical Architecture or related  
  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus architecture scale 

Preferred Qualifications 

Bonus Points If You Have: 

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture methods (e.g. TOGAF)
  • Experience using Enterprise Architecture modeling tools (e.g. LeanIX, Ardoq, Bizzdesign, etc)
  • Experience developing architecture strategies using Business Architecture practices
  • Experience in the financial industry
  • Experience with modern architectures, digital and cloud solutions
  • Experience leading large architecture program initiatives

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $171,000.00 to $235,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
