Job Description:

What You'll Do

Leads a team to develop and maintain network participant relationships by setting clear targets and establishing best practices for team members and that each RM/BD is growing the value of each relationship on behalf of Discover. Serves as the people leader supporting relationship management or business development teams that manage multiple complex partner relationships. Performs market analyses and business development activities to drive growth of the business. Develops and coaches teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manages risk within the teams you oversee.


How You'll Do It

  • Leads a team to develop and maintain network participant relationships by setting clear targets and establishing best practices for team members and that each RM/BD is growing the value of each relationship on behalf of Discover. 

  • Lead strategic initiatives and participate in cross functional projects. Drive internal processes including; development of communications, account management, approval requests and contract negotiations, compliance and risk management. 

    Explore new opportunities that drive volume growth including volume, revenue, and expansion.

  • Lead a team responsible for managing business development in one or more countries, regions or industries. 

  • Ensure team is maintaining accurate pipeline and client records in Client Relationship Management (CRM) tools.

  • Ensures each team member is fully engaged with each assigned client while following deal approval best practices and processes.  

  • Travel with team members to observe, provide leadership to support client engagement effectiveness in order to assure company initiatives are being driven by team, and serve as an escalation point. 

  • Coaches and develops team members in accordance to Performance and Talent Management processes.

Qualifications You'll Need
The Basics

  • Bachelors Business Administration and Management, Finance, Marketing or related
  • 8+ years Payments industry Sales/business development experience, relationship management, strategy, operations, project management, planning, finance, consultative skills with proven experience building deep and influential relationships with key stake holders, executive level clients and internal business partners.
  • 10+ years Payments industry Sales/business development experience, relationship management, strategy, operations, project management, planning, finance, consultative skills with proven experience building deep and influential relationships with key stake holders, executive level clients and internal business partners.


Bonus Points If You Have

  • 1+ years of people management

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $106,000.00 to $178,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
