Get involved in every aspect
I’m a lead software developer on the Enterprise Payments Platform team. Essentially my team is responsible for managing the processes involved with payment disputes. I try to get involved (in some way or another) in everything the team does. This is both to improve my understanding of everything we work on and to provide support to the team in delivering results.

Keen for big data
I came to Discover because I had a keen interest in big data. I’d never worked in the finance sector before, so the combination of big data and finance was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.

Space to express honest opinions
Though I haven’t been at Discover long, I’ve definitely grown in terms of my ability to support my team. I’ve now gained the confidence to provide valuable input within team discussions. I feel comfortable expressing my honest thoughts and opinions. The only way our team is able to make progress is with full transparency.

Group transparency
I’ve made a difference by engaging with other teams and working with them to overcome problems in a collaborative way. One particular collaborative effort recently involved finding out why a specific database query was returning incorrect results. In arriving at the solution, every single person contributed in some way to establish the root cause. We were only able to foster that level of collaboration because each person felt comfortable voicing their perspective.

All about the people
Discover stands apart from other companies I’ve worked at previously because of the people. Happiness in my role is all about the people I work alongside and engage with. With great teammates, every day is always a pleasure and never a chore.
