Celebrating Our 2025 Interns on National Intern Day
Our 2025 intern class is a group of bright, curious, and driven interns who bring fresh perspectives and eagerness to dive into the digital banking world. As they explore different parts of the business, take on meaningful projects, and build connections along the way, we're inspired by their passion and potential. In honor of National Intern Day, we heard from a few of the many interns who are shaping their skills, building their confidence, and paving the way for what's next.
Dora (she/her) | Cornell University | Credit Fraud Modeling Team
As a Master of Engineering student at Cornell, I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of data and decision making. This internship gave me the chance to put that passion into practice by developing a new mass debit transaction model on the credit fraud modeling team. Using machine learning and feature engineering, I worked to improve fraud detection and gained hands-on experience with tools like Snowflake and Airflow. What stood out most wasn’t just the technical growth, but getting to see how our models shape real business decisions—and the connections and memories made throughout the summer, including winning a ping pong tournament.
Jocelyn (she/her) | University of Michigan Ross | Personal Loans Team
If you asked me a few months ago whether I’d raise my hand to lead a group of interns, I’d probably say no. But here I am—Intern Network Circle Captain and loving it. As an MBA student at Michigan Ross, I came to Discover this summer to support the Personal Loans Product Strategy team, analyzing the effectiveness of marketing claims. In the process, I found more than just how personal loans work. I found confidence, community, and a new curiosity about financial services. And yes, when I’m not working, I’m still a firm believer that money is best spent on a wholesome meal shared with people you care about.
Caden (he/him) | Elmhurst University | Strategic Client Management Team (Discover Network)
I never thought an internship would change my mind about the corporate world—but five weeks here did just that. As a finance and international business student, I came in unsure if this path was for me. Now, I can’t imagine not being part of it. My project on Discover’s market share in Canada challenged me in all the right ways, and working with two incredible teams showed me what the ultimate leadership and collaboration standard should look like. I’ve lived in five countries and speak fluent Spanish, but nothing compares to how much I’ve learned about people, teamwork, and culture right here.
Kevin (he/him) | University of Houston | Business Technology Gateways Team (PULSE)
My software engineering journey has taken me to some amazing places. This summer at Discover has taught me something new: how the pieces of a large organization connect, and how the people make all the difference. As a Computer Science major at the University of Houston, I joined the BT Gateways team to create standardized profiles for the key systems that Pulse interacts with. It’s been a deep dive into data flows, dependencies, and integration points—and it’s opened my eyes to how fast-paced and collaborative corporate work can be. The highlight? Realizing how welcoming everyone is. Whether it’s engineers or senior leaders, people here are happy to share insights and advice. That sense of community has made my internship not just a technical learning experience, but a personal one too.
Prisca (she/her) | University of North Texas | Personal Loans Team
complex problems, work in Agile environments, and grow as a backend developer. I’ve always wanted to use my skills to make a difference, and my summer here has only fueled that goal. When I saw the REST API I built for another part of the business go live after just three weeks, I was in awe. I had started this internship unsure how to navigate new technologies like Java and Spring Boot—but I had a supportive team, and I dove in. That moment, seeing my work in action, was a turning point.
I’ve found such a wealth of openness and support from peers at all levels. A moment that captures this perfectly was when I played table tennis with a senior leader, only to find out how impactful his role was at the company later.
Shout out to all our interns and the widespread difference they have made thus far this summer. We’re glad you’re here!
