Internships & Full-time Programs

We offer a range of internships and full-time development opportunities across three key areas:

Technology

You'll help us deliver applications, enhance cybersecurity, minimize risk, support infrastructure and much more.

Technology at Discover is all about using innovative and efficient tech solutions to elevate our business. That covers everything from app development, advanced analytics and architecture – to infrastructure support, tech operations, and cybersecurity. Potential roles include: Software, Data Engineering, Programming, Cloud, and Cyber.

Data & Analytics

You'll provide critical insights into consumer and corporate performance to drive high-quality, fact-based decisions. You'll also help us use behavioural data to improve our capabilities and processes to mitigate fraud, risk, and potential business threats.

Analytics at Discover is focused on using high-quality data and insights to influence our decision making and accelerate success. Potential roles include: Modelers, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, and Data Governance.

General Business

As one of the most recognized brands in our industry, we have multiple consumer products, services, and operational functions that need the best people in the business.

Data & Analytics at the AARC

 

As a participant in our Data & Analytics Internship, you'll be first in line to apply for a role within the AARC program.

The Advanced Analytics Resource Center (AARC) is our latest investment in technology and analytics, as well as bringing tech careers to Chicago. If you are just beginning your career in analytics, the AARC provides a fast-paced experience combining our customized analytics training and rotational exposure to different areas of the business.

Our US Programs

Three ways to Shine Bright

Wherever you are on your academic journey, you can find your spark at Discover.

We have two exciting programs for Sophomores: Diversity Accelerator and Explore Discover. Both will give you a chance to experience our culture, enhance your professional skills, and help you to prepare for our Summer Internship. 

  • Diversity Accelerator: A 3-day event at our Global Headquarters in Riverwoods, IL. Students from all schools who identify with a group that is historically underrepresented, including but not limited to Black, Hispanic/Latine, and women in technology are encouraged to apply. 
  • Explore Discover: This program is designed to introduce students to Discover’s culture while growing your skill set. Events will be hosted virtually throughout the summer of 2024.

2024 Diversity Accelerator Attendees:

This event is limited to sophomore students and is by invitation only upon submitting your interest form and resume. Interest forms are no longer being accepted. 

All individuals will be notified of their invitation status by mid-March 2024. Due to limited availability, we encourage participants to submit their interest form early. For those who are invited and attend our Diversity Accelerator, Discover will cover the costs of lodging, meals, and beverages. Furthermore, we will arrange and sponsor accommodations for students traveling a distance of 50 miles or more. Please refrain from making any arrangements to attend until you have been contacted by Discover.

2024 Program Qualifications:

We’re looking for optimistic students driven to find ways to help millions of consumers in our technology, data and analytics (decisions and analytics), and general business areas.

Interested Sophomore must be:

  • Enrolled at an accredited university and graduating between December 2025-August 2026
  • Declare or be considering majors in: Computer Science, Information Systems, Actuarial Science, Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a Business-related field
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Have a passion for making an impact through innovation, collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Kickstart your career with our Summer Internship Program. You'll get expert training, exposure to senior leaders, and make your mark on exciting projects. We offer internships in Technology, Data & Analytics and General Business.

Following the internship, you’ll be considered for our Full-Time Program, where you'll receive even more mentoring, skill development, rotational assignments, and everything you need to find your spark.

Qualifications
We’re looking for enthusiastic students driven to find ways to help millions of consumers in our technology, data & analytics, and general business areas. Internship applicants must be:

  • Enrolled at an accredited university leading to a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred majors include: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data and Analytics, Engineering, Business, or similar fields
  • For 2024 internships, must have a graduation date between December 2024–June 2025
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Our Full-time Rotational Programs give new grads the freedom to explore, try new roles, and work on a variety of projects. You’ll receive mentoring, skill development, and rotational assignments that will challenge your thinking and floor the gas pedal on your learning and advancement. We offer an exciting range of full-time opportunities in Technology, Data and Analytics, and General Business.

Qualifications

We're looking for graduates that are:

  • Enrolled at an accredited university leading to a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred majors include: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data and Analytics, Engineering, Business, or similar fields
  • For 2024 full-time roles, must have a graduation date between December 2023–June 2024
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
