TITLE: Manager Modeling
DUTIES: Discover Products Inc. seeks Manager Modeling in Riverwoods, IL to develop and execute modeling techniques and methods including machine learning to control fraud and credit losses. Manage the relationship with business partners. Allocate resources and prioritize projects. Ensure modeling projects are delivered in a timely manner. Leverage technology-based tools to implement process improvements. Evaluate external data and model vendors. Identify, evaluate and recommend alternatives to business solutions in order to keep DFS on the technology frontier. Review and recommend alternative analytical and modeling tools to improve model quality and performance. Maintain a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques Promote a risk aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering (any), Statistics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field and four (4) years of experience in job offered or related position: participating in model design, development and implementation; programming in Unix and PC environments; participating in data mining, statistical and predictive analyses; participating in statistical techniques including Decision Tree, Modeling and Optimization; participating in Machine Learning Modeling using GBM and Random Forest; and utilizing tools including SAS Base and Miner, Teradata SQL, Hadoop, H20 and Excel. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Ph.D and one (1) year of experience.
